Indorama Ventures Console Operator in Port Neches, Texas

Job Description :

Indorama Integrated Oxides & Derivatives is currently looking for a dynamic individual to work as a Console Operator, located at our Port Neches, Texas, facility. In this role, you will monitor DCS alarms, graphics, Standard Operating Conditions (SOC’s), DCS screens and pages, ESD panels, gas detection systems, interlocks, UPS systems. Make process adjustments to maintain control of the process while following operating procedures, quality control plans, daily instructions, plant rules, government guidelines, controlling unit emissions, recording information on logs and forms; and writing work requests for repairs, in order to achieve the highest standards of operating excellence and environmental stewardship.

What will be expected from you?

  • Complete a site Safety Orientation and follow all Operator safety and environmental policies.

  • From a Control Room monitors computer screens to track the chemical production activities underway in various units by tracking temperatures, pressures, levels, ensuring safety equipment such as alarms and interlocks are in place and operable (not by-passed), and taking corrective actions as necessary, in order to maintain unit safety and ensure the integrity of the process and equipment, has a firm understanding of interlock actions and emergency procedures, Communicates well with all the outside operators in order to effectively troubleshoot abnormal conditions and promptly respond to emergency situations. Learn to monitor production and equipment operations during actual production runs.

  • Adjusts the process parameters for unusual weather-related events, including freezing temperatures and hurricanes, following Operating Procedures to de-inventory and/or bleed water systems; up to and including complete unit shutdowns in order to protect equipment and personnel from potential weather damage.

  • Responds to all area emergencies including loss of power, steam, cooling water, instrument air, fires, and other dangerous and unusual situations. Follows Emergency Procedures and utilizes safety equipment and systems in order to maintain the safety and integrity of the process and equipment.

  • Coordinates actions taken by field operators when needed. Monitors sample results and requests additional samples when needed for keeping product within quality specifications. Takes corrective actions when the lab results suggest out of spec conditions. Team to identify process problem areas and learning how to communicate them up and through the organization using appropriate means of communication.

  • Logs employee time sheets and tracks overtime hours worked.

  • Participate in shift hand-offs at and other key operator communications meetings.

  • Participates in audits, investigations, HAZOPs, PHA's and quality efforts in the areas.

  • Maintains good housekeeping of equipment, control rooms, and the production areas.

  • Ensure that the activities are carried out to comply with the integrated management system, as applicable (safety, food safety, GMP, health, environmental, quality and responsible care requirements).

  • Essential functions require presence in the workplace on a regular basis and an ability to work extra hours if needed. If applicable, ability to work overtime may be needed to ensure required staffing capacity to meet daily production objectives.

  • Work collaboratively with team members with different backgrounds and perspectives.

  • Assists other employees in accomplishments of Indorama company goals. Follows instructions and performs other duties as may be assigned by supervisor.

  • Participates in Environmental, Health, & Safety initiatives as set forth by the company. Participates in and completes company required training programs.

What are we looking for in the ideal candidate?

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required, Associate Degree in Process Operating Technology preferred.

  • 5 years of operator experience in a petrochemical or refinery setting required.

  • 2 years of console operator experience in a petrochemical or refinery setting preferred.

  • Must have or be able to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC).

  • Must have a level of proficiency with SAP, Internet, Email and Microsoft Office programs.

  • Mechanical aptitude.

  • Must have strong written and oral communication skills.
